Formed in November, 2019, just before Covid-19 lockdowns but has managed to survive through them. The aims of the Group are to:
1. Develop and promote an understanding of Amateur Radio and general electronics in the broader community (communications, experimentation, technologies),
2. Conduct social activities for members and non-members,
3. Conduct information sessions, workshops and structured courses, and offer mentoring in general or specific aspects of Amateur Radio and Electronics (not necessarily communications-oriented) for interested persons,
4. Recruit membership from the Amateur Radio and non-Amateur Radio community,
5. Offer to, and conduct, radio communications for community organisations,
6. Keep members advised of administrative and regulatory changes to radio communications (nationally and internationally),
7. Promote the fellowship, harmony, and creativity that the amateur radio service provides.
The Group is non-discriminatory, transparent and inclusive and there are no formal qualifications, licensing or knowledge requirements for membership.
The Group meets at 10am, Thursdays, at the old Longlea School, corner of McIvor Highway and Longlea Lane, Longlea. Visitors are more than welcome.
