At Victory Christian College we value each member of our school community, and our dedicated staff work in close partnership with our families to ensure we are meeting the academic, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of our students. We are known for our caring and nurturing environment, and our diverse and creative curriculum offers many opportunities for our students to excel. Set amongst natural bushland in Strathdale, and catering for all age levels from Prep to Year Twelve, we are committed to providing facilities which foster a sense of belonging and community, and a culture which equips students with the character, skills, knowledge, and disposition to live a life filled with purpose and promise.
Victory Christian College is a Prep to Year Twelve co-educational College located in Kennington, Victoria. The vision at Victory is to share Christ's love and pursue academic excellence in a dynamic community, which fosters creativity and personal success. We aim to build leadership, hope, compassion and self-discipline through a safe and nurturing environment.
Our approach values the unique qualities of everyone in our school community and we encourage engagement and partnership with parents through high levels of communication, participation in extra curricula programs and involvement in Parents and Friends activities.
At Victory, students are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with God and to understand that through this relationship, they have a life filled with purpose and promise. Christian Faith is explored through our values program, devotions, Bible classes and chapel services. We encourage students to look beyond themselves and gain an understanding of the wider world. Our students are encouraged to pursue leadership positions, engage in local community service programs and have opportunities to experience other cultures and serve the underprivileged through our overseas Missions program.
Our Junior School caters for children from Prep to Year Four, with dedicated and caring teaching and support staff. We understand each child is unique and will learn and respond to different styles and approaches. Our teachers foster a genuine love of learning by preparing creative and innovative curriculum, with the needs of each child in mind. Teachers use a variety of instructional practices geared to moving students progressively towards a stronger understanding of, and independence in their learning.
Our Middle School for Years Five to Eight, provides a comprehensive and flexible curriculum differentiated to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of our students, with increased access to specialist areas, specialised teachers and innovative programs. We believe that the Arts provide a powerful platform for students to flourish creatively, critically and reflectively. Students engaging in the Arts grow in their ability to adapt, respond and produce innovative and original concepts, become skilled in their field of passion, and develop higher levels of thinking, emotional intelligence, and respect for others. The Arts are embraced and encouraged and incorporate Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Performing Arts and the Visual Arts. Offering a diverse program, including recording opportunities, instrument tuition and ensemble participation, we aim to engage our students in authentic, challenging, and inspiring opportunities.
Health and Fitness is nurtured through our diverse range of subjects and experiences. These include PE, Advanced PE, Sport Science, Outdoor Education, HPV racing, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and adventure camps. Students compete in a variety of interschool sports, and our elite athletes are offered flexible arrangements, to assist them to meet the demands of their practice and competition schedules.
We recognise that the educational needs and abilities of our students are diverse, requiring different teaching and learning approaches, and programs designed to maximise each child’s potential. Attention to learning styles, acceleration programs, additional literacy and numeracy support, Individual Learning Plans, and after school tutoring equip our students for ongoing academic success.
Pastoral care is an integral part of our support to students and families, and a tangible way in which we share Christ’s love with others. College Chaplain, Learning Support staff, Careers Counsellor, Year Level Coordinators and Homeroom Teachers all play a strong and proactive role in the network of support we provide to our school community. Our Pastoral Care Program seeks to strengthen, encourage, protect, and help our students thrive throughout their educational journey with us.
To further support families, the College provides three daily bus services across a number of suburbs to and from school and working parents of Primary aged children have access to our After School Care Program with Camp Australia, five days a week.
